Frieze London, the Redesign

The full ground-up redesign of one of the world's most important art fairs.

Frieze Art Fair is one of the world’s most influential contemporary art fairs, focusing only on contemporary art and living artists, featuring over 160 galleries, the work of over 1000 artists, and over 60,000 visitors.

The full redesign and new layout, is a commission by Frieze to design what is essentially a temporary town for art, located within series of custom pavilion structures, inside Regents Park in central London.

Re-planned from ground up, the spaces were designed to create the best possible conditions for the viewing of Art.

The balance between younger, emerging galleries and more established blue-chip galleries was inverted, to create a place for discovery and exchange. Over 60 layouts were tested to create the correct balance, sequence of spaces, and flow. The layout inspired by the grand boulevards and pathways of Regents Park.

The redesign focuses on the quality of detail, adding more light, space to breathe, and reinforcing the human experience of the spaces. As a container for Art.
